About Abe

Hello! I am Abe Allen. Yes, I am young, however, I do not let my age define who I am.

I have a strong work ethic and I’ll always do what I can to act in the best interest of my community. I am from a predominately military background and have moved across the country and overseas with my family throughout my younger years.

Since leaving my family home, I have settled in Farnborough, an area which I love, and I am proud to call my home.

I was also “shipped off” (as they say) to Boarding School in Suffolk during my secondary education, though I absolutely loved it! Following my GCSEs, I decided not to follow the traditional route of A-Levels and University but instead completed a Level 4 Apprenticeship with the Civil Service, in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

I now work for the MOD and I have since left my family home. In addition to being employed as a Civil Servant I am also actively involved in my workplace Trade Union and I am very passionate about supporting my members on an individual basis and collectively when negotiating with management.

I have always enjoyed helping people and I take great pride in improving the lives of MOD employees. I enjoy spending quality time with my pets, socialising with my family and friends, renovating homes and performing (I dabble(d) in acting and singing).

To me, community isn’t a term I use loosely. I believe it is much more than a word but, a set of values that we should all follow. Being part of the community means offering a helping hand to those in need. It means supporting our local, smaller businesses (I’m certainly an avid supporter of the local Takeaways!). It means feeling like you can have a chat with your neighbours ‘just cause’. It means working together to support and level each other up. I want everyone in Fernhill to feel like they have a sense of community and to be a part of building their version of what a community looks like.

I am keen to make Fernhill a better place. From the commute in the morning, to the shopping trip at the weekend, I want our residents to feel proud of our town and take pride in calling it their home.
